I know, as educators, we want our students and colleagues to take chances and fail because this breeds more learning. I get it and I often preach it, but failure still stinks! Failure is not fun, nor kind most of the time. Failure makes you think about what coulda, shoulda, and woulda happened. However, failure leads to reflection and increases a world of wonder. Even though I think failure stinks, I believe it pushes our will and creativity to a new level.
