I first discovered this site from Sarah McFadden’s Google+ post. The Scale of the Universe 2 site is a FREE, interactive site that allows students to get a spacial sense of just how big and small things around us are. Click on the image below to experience this very engaging site. I have also include the Powers of Ten video from 1977 that starts to zoom ten times farther out until our own galaxy is visible only as a speck of light among many others and then returning to Earth that ends inside a proton of a carbon atom within a DNA molecule in a white blood cell.
Awww, thanks. I wish I would have found this before we discussed scientific notation in math 8. But I give all credit to discovering because of students in my study hall discussing. Yactometer and zattameter. I googled and found another website taloing about Yhe Scale of Things.
Thanks for commenting Sarah. You are such an inspiring educator!
