Little Free Library

I first heard about this project from, the Dean of Students of West Fargo High School, Ryan Johnson.  Little Free Library is a great project created by Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin.  He built a model of a one room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother, a former school teacher who loved reading.  He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard.  His neighbors and friends loved it.  He built several more and gave them away.  Each one had a sign that said FREE BOOKS.

It’s as simple as “take a book, return a book.”  A Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.  I think this would be an awesome community connection project for a classroom.  If you want to find the closed Little Free Library just check out this map.  There is currently 4 Little Free Libraries in North Dakota!  If you are look to create a Little Free Library for yourself or classroom, start HERE!

Below is the TED Talk Todd Bol gave at the TEDxFargo event.
